Bankruptcy Can Stop Lawsuits

Being sued with a lawsuit is one reason many people contemplate filing bankruptcy. It's a factor, but only one, that should be considered.

Generally

If there is a lawsuit or lawsuits against you, it may be a wise course to file bankruptcy. This would cease all attempts to collect on the future judgment they may get, even from a personal injury attorney.

Do I Answer the Summons?

If you don't answer it, you have no defense if it goes to trial. Doing nothing could result in a judgment against you. Contact us for more info and strategy.

Judgments

Judgment then bankruptcy, or bankruptcy first? I'd suggest avoid having judgments against you, if you have the option. Sure, the bankruptcy will avoid and remove judgments, but given a choice, it's probably preferable to file the bankruptcy before you get a judgment against you.

More info on Banning CA

Banning is named after famed L.A. entrepreneur Phinneas Banning, yet he never set foot in the city, nor anywhere in the San Gorgonio Pass area. Prior to the name Banning, the settlement was called "Moore City". Ransom B. Moore operated a large cattle ranch and was a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supvervisors, settling in the area and nearby San Gorgonio mountains in the early 1850s. Between the years 1880 and 1980, it was the largest city in year-round population between Redlands and the Colorado River. [citation needed] The early western poet and author Henry Herbert Knibbs lived his last years in Banning.
